brea’ williams (b. 2004, baltimore, md) is a mixed media artist whose work explores black girlhood and the process of growing up. she works across painting, photography, collage, and drawing, often layering mediums to create complex narratives that reflect both lived experiences and imagined worlds.
williams’ practice began as a way of navigating personal history and has evolved into a broader reflection on identity and the resilience of black girlhood. through childlike play, her work reimagines stories from her childhood and adult life, creating spaces that promote healing, self discovery, and cultural commentary.
she is currently pursuing her bfa in general fine arts with a minor in photography at the maryland institute college of art (mica) in baltimore, md. her work has earned her awards from youngarts and scholastics art and writing competitions. williams’ work seeks to both connect with others and preserve stories of black girlhood, offering intimate yet expansive reflections on identity and growing up.
